The countdown is on.

The countdown has officially began to Rob coming home on his leave. The countdown is just an estimate as I probably will not know the exact day he will get here until that day, or maybe a day or two before if I am lucky. Anywho, he shall arrive back on US soil in approximately 40 days!! I get butterflies in my stomach just thinking about seeing him at the airport. He will be home for two weeks, and I am absolutely positive that those will be the two best weeks of my life!

I am very lucky as far as communication with Rob goes. We talk via Skype and e-mail on a daily basis. There have only been a couple days, minus his time in training in the US and the time it took to transfer(which seemed like forever) to his base, where we have not had any communication. I know this is out of the ordinary and not many military spouses are as fortunate as I, so for that I am very thankful! His job has something to do with security and intelligence, so he spends his days sitting in an office with internet access, another major plus.

I had my first visitors this weekend. Rob's mom, sister, and my absolutely adorable nephew came up to check out the new place and do a little shopping. They had quite the adventure driving up here Friday afternoon, driving through blizzard conditions and terrible roads. I am glad they made it, and hopefully future visits won't be quite so eventful! We spent the day Saturday doing some shopping. My favorite part of the weekend was video calling Rob on Skype. It was so cute/awesome to see Braxton and Rob talk to each other. Braxton was showing his uncle his Indian call and waving "hi" and "bye" after Rob would say his name or wave. Absolutely adorable.

Braxton had a great time emptying the cupboards and playing with the pots and pans!

Welcome to Minnesota! There sure is a lot of snow up here, and they told me 1/2 of it melted the day before I moved. What am I getting myself into? Actually, I really don't mind snow!!

Living Room, the walls are a little bare but I think I will wait for Rob to come home before attempting to hang pictures/shelves. Well most of them anyways :-)

Another view of the living room.

1/2 bath located downstairs off the living room

Rob's new TV, and in case you were wondering I assembled it and set it up myself :-)

The Move

As you probably know I recently took a job up in the Twin Cities and made the big move a few days ago. I am going to give this blogging thing a try to keep family, friends, and Rob updated on events of my daily life. Who knows if I will actually go through with this, or if I just think it's a good idea because I don't have much going on at the time!

I will be working in downtown Minneapolis but do not start until next Friday, so in the meantime I am playing Susie Homemaker and trying to make Rob and I's first place a home. I have been waiting for the day to have our own place for a long time now, so I must say it feels pretty amazing. I have enjoyed all of my previous roomies throughout my many years of college but it is great to finally have a job and a place to call my own. It is missing someone very important though, but he will be home on leave next month and I can't wait to show him our first place!! Hopefully he likes it as much as I do!

I made the move last Friday. My dad and Michelle were so kind to haul a big trailer up and help me unload and unpack. I wouldn't have been able to do it without them, that's for sure. We took a trip to Ikea to buy a TV stand for the large TV that got delivered today (more on that another time), coffee table, and side table. It is pretty awesome being so close to Ikea, I'm not sure if that is a good or bad thing! That basically took up our whole day Saturday after everything was assembled, and the rents left Sunday morning. It felt a little strange to be all alone in a big city where I know very few people, but luckily I had internet and got show Rob around our place via Skype. Last night I went to dinner with a friend from grad school who will be interning up here in March. It was good to see her and is nice knowing someone else in the area!

Today the TV was delivered and I got it all set up on my own which was quite an accomplishment. Everything is unpacked and in its place for the most part, but I still need to hang pictures and do some decorating. It is looking just a little bare! Well I think I will call it good for the first post on this blog thing! Pictures will be be posted soon!
